Napoli comeback to beat Salernitana 2-1 in Serie A
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Napoli made a comeback when they beat Salernitana 2-1 in the 20th week of the Italian League at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Saturday (13/1) evening WIB.
Partenopei approached the match with poor results after failing to win in the previous three matches.
According to the official Serie A website, the additional three points made Napoli occupy sixth place in the Italian League standings. Last season’s Italian League champions have collected 31 points from 20 matches, trailing two points behind Fiorentina in the top four and 17 points behind league leaders Inter Milan.
Salernitana surprised the home team with a goal by Antonio Candreva, opening the scoring to make it 1-0 in the 29th minute.
Domagoj Bradaric controlled the ball outside the box, then passed it to Candreva who finished with a right-footed shot into the top corner of the unreachable Napoli goal by Pierluigi Gollini.
Just before half-time, the referee awarded a penalty to Napoli following a foul by Federico Fazio for a foul on Giovanni Simeone.
Matteo Politano stepped up as the executor and released a left-footed shot. Guillermo Ochoa managed to guess the direction of the ball, but the ball still went into the right corner of the goal. The score was 1-1 until the end of the first half.
Napoli had to wait until injury time to score the winning goal. Amir Rrahmani became Napoli’s hero after breaking Salernitana’s goal in extra time to make it 2-1.
From a free kick, Ochoa cleared the ball. Diego Demme’s header hit an opponent, and the ball fell to Rrahmani, who finished with a right-footed shot from the middle of the penalty box. The score of 2-1 for Napoli remained until the end of the match.
