President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, expressed his excitement about Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s initiative to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. This announcement came after a productive bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Lula at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília. Prabowo warmly welcomed the plan to bring Brazilian businesspeople to Indonesia, emphasizing the potential for enhanced cooperation in trade and investment between the two nations. He noted the similarities between Indonesia and Brazil in terms of population size, abundant natural resources, and biodiversity, highlighting the opportunity for meaningful collaboration.
During the meeting, Prabowo acknowledged Brazil’s advancements in agriculture and bioenergy and expressed Indonesia’s eagerness to learn from Brazil’s success in these areas. He commended Brazil’s use of biofuels and agricultural innovations, recognizing the value of adopting similar practices in Indonesia. Furthermore, Prabowo appreciated Lula’s support for Indonesia’s plan to send technical teams to study Brazil’s technologies and innovations in agriculture.
In addition to his visit to Brasília, Prabowo attended the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro during his time in Brazil. President Lula is set to visit Indonesia in October, and Prabowo promised to organize a special celebration in Jakarta for Lula’s 80th birthday. This exchange of visits and engagement between the two leaders signifies a deepening bond between Indonesia and Brazil, with the potential for fruitful collaborations in various sectors.
