President Prabowo’s Pledge: Lifting the Poor & Ending Poverty

President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to uplifting the impoverished population through various flagship initiatives aimed at not only addressing immediate needs but also creating a pathway for future generations to escape poverty. According to Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono, programs like Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School), Kopdes Merah Putih (Village Cooperatives), and MBG (Free Nutritious Meals) play a crucial role in achieving this goal. The Sekolah Rakyat program, for instance, aims to break the cycle of poverty passed down from generation to generation by providing education to children born into impoverished families. President Prabowo’s administration has set ambitious targets to eradicate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. Strategies such as the People’s School initiative, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools are part of the government’s comprehensive approach to combatting poverty. The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives are specifically designed to stimulate local economies, create job opportunities, and empower both rural and urban communities. With the launch of the Kopdes Merah Putih program on July 21, 2025, President Prabowo aims to establish 80,000 cooperatives nationwide to further promote village empowerment and self-sufficiency. The administration’s commitment to improving the lives of the poor is evident in its efforts to provide essential services and support to those in need.
