The Indonesian government recently initiated the Free Health Check Program (CKG) for students nationwide to promote early detection of physical and mental health issues among school-aged children. This initiative, part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Quick Win agenda, is a long-term investment in the nation’s future, according to Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin. CKG includes various screenings like height and weight measurements, dental and vision checks, and mental health assessments, with the involvement of teachers and parents in promoting healthy living. The program aims to ensure children’s health is a priority to help them reach their fullest potential. Collaboration from local governments, schools, and ministries, particularly the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, has been crucial in making this program possible. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to develop world-class human capital under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as emphasized by the Presidential Communication Office’s representative, Prita Laura. The program is not a standalone policy but part of a comprehensive approach that includes the Free Nutritious Meals initiative and education innovations. West Java Vice Governor Erwan Setiawan highlighted the need for cross-sector collaboration to meet Minimum Service Standards, especially in child health. Early health screening is essential for Indonesia’s youth to grow up healthy, learn effectively, and achieve their full potential.
