Prabowo Halts SOE Commissioner Bonuses: What It Means for People

0

President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized his dedication to restructuring Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by putting an end to the practice of awarding bonuses, also known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Delivering a keynote speech at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement and dispersion of SOE assets over the years. The consolidation of these assets under Danantara has positioned Indonesia as a significant player in the global finance arena, with a sovereign wealth fund ranking fifth worldwide, trailing behind Norway, China, and Abu Dhabi. Despite this achievement, Prabowo criticized the allocation of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially during periods of financial losses, deeming it inherently unjust. He underscored the necessity of eliminating these bonuses as part of a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at fostering integrity and professionalism within state-owned entities. Prabowo also made it clear that individuals resistant to these reforms would not be tolerated, as there are numerous young talents ready to assume leadership roles in the restructuring process.
